Mrs. Anderson's News
Acuity
Our school uses a program called Acuity to help students with skills in language arts and math. We give an Acuity assessment in order to see the areas where students may benefit from more instruction. We can assign tutorials, games, and activities to go along with what we are learning or what deficit areas we see on their assessments. We started using the learning resources this week and the kids have really enjoyed them. Several asked if they could do any of them at home. In order to do any of the activities at home, they need to go to the website: www.acuityathome.com. They can login with the same username and password they use for the school version.
ISTEP Letters
As you know, third grade is the first year for ISTEP testing. The first round of ISTEP begins the end of February and the second round is in April. I know many of the students are nervous about taking it, and I don't want them to be stressed out. I thought it might help motivate the kids if they received a little note or letter from you. If you can write a little "pep talk" note or letter and seal it in an envelope with your child's name, I will pass them out the first morning of testing.
The testing takes place over several days and we do offer breaks and snacks, but having encouragement from you will go a long way as well. :)
You can send your note in any time. I will collect them all and save them until testing time. Thanks!
Valentine's Day Party
Our Valentine's Day party will be on Thursday, February 11th, since Friday the 12th is a Flex Snow Day. (So far we don't have any days to make up.) If you have a slip stapled to the front of this page, thank you so much for volunteering to donate for the party! Please notice on the back side of this letter, I have included a class list to help your child when writing names on his/her valentines. :)
