Mrs. Bearden's Weekly Update

April 12, 2021

Dear Eagle Canyon Families,

Thank you to the In-Person families for a smooth transition last week with all of the students on campus. As a reminder, if your child or someone in your home is experiencing COVID-like symptoms, please keep your child at home. It is important we work together to keep our students and staff safe.

Please help us to ensure we are maintaining safe distances and limiting the number of people on campus at drop-off and dismissal. ALL parents in Grades 1 - 6 will need to either drop their children off or meet after school at the Pedestrian Gate or the Bus Gate if they are walkers or drive-in and drop off/pick up their children at the Cabanas. Only KINDERGARTEN and SDC parents may park and walk their children to the gate. Be sure to communicate with your child where you will meet them after school. Please do not allow or encourage your children to walk in the parking lot or cross in front of cars. We must work together to keep everyone safe.

Your children will take the Essential Standards Assessment #3 (ESA #3) April 19 - May 20. K-1 Distance Learning Parents, please plan to pick up ESA #3 this week from our school office. Your child's teacher will let you know when the assessments will be given so you can ensure your child gets plenty of rest and has a healthy breakfast.

Masks and physical distancing are a requirement when on any Chino Valley Unified campus. Thank you for your support!

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs. Bearden

Last week, the students received their junior high packets. The packets will have information regarding registration and orientation. Please be sure to look for it because there is a strict timeline you must follow to ensure the paperwork is returned in a timely manner.

Distance Learning Parents, please plan to stop by the office as soon as possible to pick up your child's packet.

In order to sign up for electives, you will need to have your child log in to their Aeries portal to select their courses. Click on the link below to access a video tutorial. More information will be coming in regards to the timeline for selecting electives.

The following letter from Mr. Todd Finkbiner was sent last week.

Hello Incoming Canyon Hills Families,

My name is Todd Finkbiner and I am the proud principal of Canyon Hills Junior High School. As we prepare for our transition from elementary school to junior high school, I have asked your site principal to assist me in communicating important upcoming dates and events with you.

Below you will find two action items.

First, we are excited to announce that on Monday, April 12, Canyon Hills JHS will be posting information regarding our Leadership, Renaissance, and Yearbook classes on our school website! The applications are to be submitted online no later than April 23 and late applications will not be accepted. All classes will be posted on May 14 at 3 PM in front of Canyon Hills JHS.

Next, I would like to invite you to join our 2021-2022 PTSA Executive Board. We have several positions open for the upcoming school year. This month's Core Essential is Peace. Please click on the link below to access the Family Newsletter.

Peace Family Newsletter

Families are beginning to receive letters regarding their child's attendance. Please understand, Distance Learning teachers are required to document their students' engagement during live instruction. Students are required to remain present in their virtual class during live instruction. When students turn their cameras off and do not respond when called on to participate in a class discussion, they are considered absent.

Please help us by talking with your children about the importance of being engaged in daily instruction and learning activities. Also talk to them about only opening tabs their teachers ask them to open. It is very easy for students to open video games in other tabs, but look like they are engaged in live instruction. We need to work together to prevent learning loss during Distance Learning. It will take everyone working together to help our students succeed. Thank you for your help!

Virtual Top Flight Awards

Help us recognize your children for meeting the schoolwide expectations of being respectful, responsible, and safe during Distance Learning.
