Boomerang Award District Winner - October 2016
Alexa Bergmaier
Alexa was chosen by CB Cares as October’s elementary boomerang district winner because she is the definition of responsibility as described by her six nominations! Alexa is a Doyle ambassador and welcomed and toured new families in her school over the summer.
She is self-motivated and can be counted on for every detail. Alexa serves as a kindergarten safety and even makes sure her buddy has a partner if she has to miss school. In school, she does not hesitate to ask questions and is thoughtful to help out teachers at recess and provides peer tutoring to students. At home she completes her works before recreational activities and prepares the night before for the day.
Alexa is organized and has a strong work ethic and is an exemplary role model.
Mitten Project
Mitten Project – Helping Doyle Families in Need
Staff and students of Doyle Elementary School will be participating in a “Giving Project” again this year. Our goal is to provide food and gifts for Doyle families who need extra support.
Starting November 22, there will be a display of colorful mittens on the wall inside the main entrance of Doyle. Each mitten describes a special gift for a child or adult who is a recipient of the project.
If your family would like to purchase a gift for this project, please stop in and visit Doyle to select a mitten. After you take a mitten, you should buy the gift item listed, wrap it, and attach the mitten to the gift, so that it can be distributed properly.
All gifts need to be brought to Doyle by
Tuesday, December 13, 2016.
If your family would rather donate a monetary gift, please make checks payable to the Doyle Elementary School Activity Account. This money will be used to purchase extra food items or other gifts, as needed.
Thank you for your support in making an effort to help members of our Doyle community.
If you have any questions, please call Tracy Kowalchick at 267-893-4335.
Eagle's Pride
Bryn Rossi
The week before Halloween Bryn decided to sell lemonade and homemade, decorate-your-own cookies on our street. She did this to help raise money for pets who need homes. She then proceeded to make posters, put flyers in mailboxes up and down our street and talked to anyone she could about her need for donations to help the rescue pets.
In the last 3 weeks Bryn has collected cat & dog food, blankets, peanut butter, laundry detergent and the cash from her sales. She has also stood up during lunch at school to share her cause with her classmates. Tonight we went to “Dog Town” in New Britain to hand in our donations. They were thrilled that Bryn has taken it upon herself to acquire donations that will assist with the daily needs of the pets to be rescued. Bryn signed up tonight to become a volunteer and will be taking their volunteer training next week to get prepared to help them out on a consistent basis.
