Tiger Times, February 2022
Burt Elementary School
A Note from Ms. Mathis and Ms. Karch:
Happy February and happy belated New Year! We are so glad to finally be back in a routine with our students and staff. We are working towards major goals this semester, preparing for state testing, and getting ready for all of the fun spring events to come in the future. That being said, attendance is critical in the last four months of the school year. We are hopeful that all of the sickness will subside and everyone can be here at school, happy, healthy, and ready to learn and grow. Don't forget that students have access to so many great academic resources via their classlink--there are tools for reading and math that are intuitive to the needs of your student. We definitely suggest using these tools as a supplement in preparing for the end of the year. If you need assistance with how to access these resources ask your child's teacher. Another way to support them academically is to read with them for 20 minutes each night. Research shows they gain new vocabulary at a faster rate when this is done consistently. As always, if you ever need anything feel free to reach out to us here at the school. We look forward to continuing to work with your Tiger this school year.
City Saver Fundraiser
Monday, February 7th is the last day to take advantage of purchasing or selling our Clarksville City Saver books. This book is chalked full of great deals to local businesses. Students earn prizes for each book they sell. The cost is $25. If you have any questions, call the Burt office.
We need you, parents!

Mrs. Cornell
Ms. Cornell has been an educator for 37 years. She is just as energetic and passionate about her students as she was the day she began. She is our current MCL for 3rd grade and she works tirelessly to grow not only students, but teachers on her grade level. She is an exceptional teacher and leader and her students adore her. Congratulations to Ms. Cornell!
Mrs. Bourne
Mrs. Bourne has been teaching for eight years, three of which have been at Burt. She is a knowledgeable and effective educator. She works hard to understand her students and their needs so that she can cater her teaching to those specific needs. Anytime you go into Ms. Bourne's class you can expect that students will be working hard towards reaching their goals. Burt is lucky to have her. Congratulations, Ms. Bourne!
