Evergreen Community Update

Our Mission
Principal's Message
Hello EMS Community,
We are back!! I hope each of you enjoyed some well deserved rest, relaxation and fun during the summer months. It was great for our EMS staff to check out, reflect, and unwind for the summer but we are all excited to be back and in the swing of things. Seeing students walk through the main doors of the school last Tuesday was a breath of fresh air and the overall vibe of the school has been amazing since.
As stated over the summer, construction at EMS has been organized chaos. However as promised, the construction crew worked diligently to see that the school was ready to operate by the first day. The interior projects in the building are very close to being complete with brand new lockers arriving sometime near the end of this month. Six new classrooms have been constructed in the area where the old library was located. The commons and cafeteria areas have been remodeled and lunch time has been a blast. Once a few minor details are finalized, the focus will shift to the exterior of the building where an entirely new wing will be added to the school. This will take place throughout much of the school year, hopefully done by Spring Break.
Many of you learned last June that we have a new assistant principal here at Evergreen. Celia Murray has moved to become an assistant principal at Liberty High School and will be in charge of seniors and graduation. She will be dearly missed by our entire community as she had served our Evergreen students for eight years. Mr. Matt Nova is now the assistant principal at EMS. Previously, he was a district coordinator of Special Education for a number of years after teaching Life Skills at Evergreen a few years back. I'm excited for you all to meet him at next week's Back to School Night.
See below details relating to next week's Back to School Night event as well as this week's Picture Day. If students misplaced their picture packet, be sure to have them stop by the main office to get another prior to Wednesday.
Below are several photos and information that will keep you up to date on the happenings around Evergreen.
Enjoy the rest of your week!!

Classes will only be 7 minutes with 4 minutes in between to allow you time to get to the next class. Teachers will be prepared to share with you the class expectations of the class as well as what students will be learning throughout the year.
Even though we have added an additional 33 parking spaces in the back of the building, we do not have enough parking to accommodate all of our families. If you live nearby, please consider walking to the event or parking in the neighborhood.
See you all there!!

Glencoe Varsity Football Game Expectations
There are very strict rules for this season that you should be aware of:
- All students must have their school ID card if they expect to get into the game. GHS staff will be working the gates and will not know who our EMS students are. Without the ID card, students will be turned away. No exceptions. ID cards will be issued on this Wednesday during Picture Day.
- The only way that students can enter the game without their ID card is if they are accompanied by their parent to the game.
- EMS students MUST be in their designated area during the game, which is in the bleachers near the end-zone. The exception to this is if they are accompanied by their parent.
- EMS students are not allowed to mingle in the Glencoe High School student section. If students violate this rule, a parent will be called and asked to come and pick up the student.
