Principal's Pen
This week we celebrate the feast day of a millennial who was beatified in 2020. His name is Carlo Acutis. This is a great saint to introduce to our children because his life looks a little bit more like their own than some of the other saints. He had a passion for computer programming, was on a soccer team, and enjoyed playing on his playstation. He also had a great love for Jesus in the Eucharist and used his programming talents to document the Eucharistic miracles he studied. Carlo died of leukemia in 2006 at the age of 15. I included a video about Carlo at the bottom of this newsletter. Please take a moment to learn about this wonderful role model for our children.
Thank you to all those who have signed up to attend our Parent Association meeting. Please consider joining our PA and attending this meeting on Thursday, October 21st. Next week I will include a zoom link for the meeting for those who cannot attend in person.
We now have a new Mass schedule. The first through eighth graders will again be attending Mass twice a week as they use to do, on Wednesday and Friday mornings at 8:00 a.m. Kindergarten will continue to attend Mass on Fridays only. We are also going to change our seating arrangements. The students will be sitting with their classes instead of with families. Students are spread apart and we are skipping a pew between classes. This should help with a number of issues we've had with the prior seating arrangement.
Our Caught Being a Christian Award this week goes to Annika Hill. Annika helped another student who dropped their pencils in the hallway. She was practicing the virtue of kindness. Great job, Annika!
Have a wonderful week and God bless,
Angela Oller

Third Grade Writing
Second Grade
The second graders had a sorting activity for grammar. They sorted nouns, verbs and adjectives. The second graders also planted daffodil bulbs. In the Superkids Reader book, each of the Superkids is given a daffodil bulb to plant in the fall. Mrs. Smith thought it would be fun for our 2nd graders to do the same thing! Last week, the 2nd graders each received a bulb of their own. They planted them in window boxes and then put them on a protected raised area in the back of the school where they can keep an eye on them until they bloom in the spring, God willing. (We can plant them but only God can make them grow!) Stay tuned!
