Dear Eaton Families,
We had a great week at school! Our 5th graders went on a fun field trip to Masonboro Island. They learned a lot, and had a great time. Next week is our last week before spring intersession. We have another great week ahead, with some fun events planned.
Book Fair
March 21st- March 25th
We are so excited for our Spring Book Fair next week! Class Wish List visits will take place on Monday and Tuesday. We hope you are able to come out and shop during Bingo Night on Thursday, March 24th from 5:00-7:00. Our Book Fair will close on Friday, March 25th, at 10:00am.
Beach Blanket Bingo Night
Thursday, March 24th
5:00-7:00
Join us for some Bingo fun on the front lawn! Bring a blanket and pre-order pizza to enjoy with your family while you play. We will not be selling pizza that night, so please make sure you turn in your pizza order form to your child's teacher by Tuesday, March 22nd. Money will be collected at the event when you pick up your pizza. We will continue to sell 50/50 raffle tickets during Bingo Night.
Lunch Menu for the Week:
Monday: Pizza, Ham & Cheese Sandwich
Tuesday: Corn Puppies & Roll Up
Wednesday: Chick-fil-a Sandwich & Turkey and Cheese
Thursday: Managers Choice, Chicken with Buffalo Sauce
Friday: PB&J or Munchie Pack
Volunteers to Help in Cafeteria on Fridays
When we return from Spring intersession we would love to have Level 2 volunteers help sell ice cream in the cafeteria on Fridays. If you are interested, please email Mrs. Allen, crissie.allen@nhcs.net

End-of-Grade (EOG) Assessments @ Eaton
EOG Assessment Dates:
May 26th, Science EOG (5th Grade)
May 27th, Reading EOG (3rd, 4th & 5th Grades)
June 1st, Math EOG (3rd Grade)
June 2nd, Math EOG (4th & 5th Grades)
In addition to EOG assessments, some 3rd graders will be invited to take the Read to Achieve (RTA) assessment on June 3rd. This assessment is for 3rd grade students who are not proficient in reading. It is an additional opportunity for 3rd grade students to show proficiency in reading. You will receive a phone call after the Reading EOG if your 3rd grader is invited to take this assessment.

Bingo Beach Blanket Night
March 24th, 5:00-7:00
Join us for Bingo, pizza, and Book Fair shopping! Don't forget to pre-order your pizza. We will not be selling pizza at the event.
PTA 50/50 Raffle @ Bingo Night, March 24th:
Each student has received a bundle of five 50/50 raffle tickets. We will be holding another 50/50 raffle at Bingo night, March 24th.
Thank you for supporting our Spring Art Kit Fundraiser! Orders will be sent home with students on Wednesday, March 23rd.

Literacy at Home (Digital Children’s Reading Initiative):
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Office of Early Learning is pleased to announce the newest resource to support young readers in North Carolina, “Literacy at Home.” As part of current legislation, Senate Bill 387 directs NC DPI to develop and share a digital children’s reading initiative designed to support the continued growth of North Carolina’s youngest readers. The site is home to easily accessible resources in the foundational areas of reading supported by the science of reading. Developed for each grade level, pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, resources are available to support phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and oral language.
