Unity Day
October is National Bullying Prevention Month! One of the campaigns organized during this month is Unity Day or SAVE (Students Against Violence Everywhere) Day!
Here is some quick information about it:
“This special day was created to unite all people in schools, communities and online against bulling. Those who don't actively participate in the national movement can express their support by wearing orange. The color orange was chosen to represent Unity Day because it is described as vibrant, warm and inviting, and is commonly associated with safety and visibility. Every schoolboy or schoolgirl is encouraged to wear something orange on this day. The support of Unity Day may be showed even beyond the school – adults are encouraged to wear orange in the workplace, community and home.”

Andy's Fundraiser
Coming Soon: Painless Fundraiser
On Friday, October 22 we will begin a school-wide fundraising program called the PAINLESS FUNDRAISER. This fundraiser will simply ask for a donation to the school instead of the students having to sell items.
What is it: The PAINLESS FUNDRAISER gives 100% of the money raised directly to Murchison Elementary, plain and simple. The idea behind this kind of fundraiser is to generate more funds for the school while decreasing the stress on parents and kids to sell items like cookies, magazines, or gift-wrap to family and neighbors. Additionally, the Painless Fundraiser prevents MES from having to return a large percentage of the amount raised back to a fundraising company. We also feel this is a safer, contactless fundraising option due to the ongoing pandemic.
Watch for more information about the Painless Fundraiser to come home with your child next week!
