Riverbend Parent Newsletter
January 5, 2024
From the Principal
Riverbend Families,
Happy New Year and welcome back! I hope you all had the opportunity to enjoy the holiday break with family and friends. As we resume the 2nd trimester here are a few general reminders for a successful transition back to school from the long break:
- Appropriate Dress: With the colder weather upon us, please make sure students are dressed appropriately for the conditions. Many of our students spend a significant amount of time at a bus stop, and it can get quite cold. If your student is in need of a jacket or warm clothing, please reach out and let us know. We will be more than happy to help. As a reminder, students are not allowed to bring blankets to school.
- Lunch Account Balances: Please monitor your student's lunch account balance in Infinite Campus. Students with a negative balance will still receive a hot lunch entree, but they will not be allowed to purchase al-a-carte items. If you need assistance with lunch costs, please fill out the Free and Reduced Application and return it to the main office.
- 2nd trimester ends February 23rd. This will be a noon dismissal day. We will be doing a 2nd trimester Parent Night shortly after the trimester ends. Please keep an eye out for more information.
- Riverbend has been selected to participate in 2024 NAEP testing by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Students are randomly selected by the testing service to assess basic knowledge and progress in core subject areas. Approximately 50 students will be selected to participate. Testing will take place on February 7th. Students and parents will be notified through the guidance counseling department if they are selected. Please feel free to reach out to the counseling department if you have questions.
- Now that basketball season is in full swing, please be reminded that students are not allowed to attend home games without adult supervision. Students must be accompanied by an adult to gain entry to all home events.
As we reflect on 2023, Riverbend has so much to be proud of. Our climate and school culture has continued to grow in a positive direction. We look forward to our continued partnership with you as we work to achieve new heights in 2024! Thank you for your steadfast support and involvement in our school.
