Event Information
The Grange Book Exchange
This event is for all the readers in the community! Just how does the Book Exchange work? Participants are encouraged to bring their used books and DVD’s to The Grange in boxes that you do not want back. These items can be dropped off the week before the event at The Grange during the allowed drop off dates/times. Please do not bring books with you to the actual event on Saturday, January 12, as we will not accept them. All books need to be dropped off before the event during the designated drop off times.
Drop Off Dates/Times:
Monday, January 7 through Thursday, January 10 from 9 am to 8 pm. We will not accept books after Thursday, January 10.
Then participants come back for the main event, which happens on Saturday, January 12 from 9 am to 3 pm. The Grange staff and a group of wonderful volunteers will have gone through all of the books and organized them into various categories. You can then come into The Grange and rummage through hundreds of books and take whatever you would like to read. The event is completely free and you do not have to have donated books to be able to come to the exchange. There is no limit on the number of books or movies you can take and all items are on a first come, first served basis. Please note that we are unable to accept encyclopedias, VHS tapes, or outdated school books and how to/instruction books (Example: Learn Windows 98).

7) I have never been to the event before. What can I expect?
Answer: The Book Exchange has been occurring for a number of years and is quite popular. It is a first come, first served, event. There will be a line that forms outside of The Grange before the event begins. The doors will open at 9 a.m. and everyone will rush in to look for books. The event is quite busy for the first 1-2 hours and then it calms down substantially. The first areas to run out of items are always the kid's book section and the DVD's. If you want the first choice for books be prepared to come right at 9 a.m. but keep in mind that crowds will be the highest at this time. In the event that crowds are so large that we would exceed the fire code for the building we will implement a 1 in 1 out system to ensure a safe environment for event participants. If you want a much more relaxed experience then come in the afternoon but please note that the selection of books will be less.
