What exactly is HIV and Aids?
HIV means Human Immune Deficiency Virus. It alters the immune system, making people more vulnerable to infections and diseases.
Aids is Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.Aids is the final stage of HIV,which causes severe damage to the immune system.
Sub-Saharan Africa
In 2011,there was an estimation of approximently 1.2 million adults and children, died as a result of AIDS-related illness.More than 34 million orphans in sub-Saharan Africa, out of 11 million of them are orphaned by Aids.8 out of 10 children in the world whose parents have died of AIDS live in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Health care
AIDS rose from a 3.5% to 32% and will continue to increase as the disease spreads unchecked.Health care expenses and funeral cost tend to cause a strain for the household members and loss of income, reduced ability of caregivers,to work, mounting medical fees that push off affected households deeper into poverty.Another fact to prevent Aids/HIV is by wearing or protecting yourself during sexual intercourse. There has been an increase in use of condoms which helps prevent spreading the disease. The are also trying to come of with a pill that reduces the chances of a child being born with aids and reducing the chance by 2/3.
