Principal's Weekly Update
RAISE Goal: to include new people in games and activities
Te reo phrase of the week: huri mai (turn this way)
Kia ora,
Our annual athletics afternoon was the clear highlight of this week, the skills, talent, and effort that were on display were outstanding. The teachers did a great job of providing engaging activities for our students and encouraging them to achieve their best. We are thoroughly looking forward to the Kaponga Athletics event next Thursday. Can you please return the permission slip ASAP so we can have definite numbers on which students will need transport on the day. Can I please ask our parents/caregivers to remember that this is a school event. Therefore your child/ren need to be sitting with the school at all times. The playground is out of bounds to all of our students. We appreciate your support with this as it makes things extremely hard when we have to try and find students for events who are not sitting with the school.
Whanau Learning Conferences
Yesterday we sent out a notice with all of the details for our upcoming whanau learning conferences. These conferences are very much about meeting the teacher, goal setting, and discussing how your child has settled in. We will hold further learning conferences next term which will be accompanied by a written report and progress update. If you missed the notice, please find it here: https://www.smore.com/kfmy0

Room 6
We have had a great week in Room 6. A big highlight was training for high jump with the seniors ready for Athletics Day. It was exciting to run fast and jump over the bar with lots of cheering and support offered. We were well prepared for the big day!
We had a great afternoon on Wednesday with the rest of the school and really enjoyed all the activities we tried. Everyone was tired but happy at the end.
Here are some stories about high jump.
‘Today I did the high jump and I got puffed. I jumped over the bar.’ Keely
‘I did the high jump. I ran so fast.’ Nate
‘Today I did the high jump. I knocked the bar down.’ Harvey
‘Today I did the high jump. I ran so fast and I jumped high.’ Braxton
