Math Department Policy
As we continually reflect upon and revise our procedures and policies to provide our scholars with the most meaningful and relevant opportunities, we have adjusted our retake policy in all math classes. In order to retake an assessment (quiz or test), scholars:
· must complete and turn in the Assessment Revision Form (available in all math classrooms)
· must attend Math Tutoring two different times to work on missed concepts (with signatures provided by math tutors)
· must provide original assessment with corrections
· take the Revision when scheduled by the teacher (only one retake per assessment)
Additionally, Exit Tickets are not eligible for retakes. Exit Tickets are given frequently and are utilized to show understanding of the concept of a lesson. Scholars are encouraged to take notes during the lesson and are then able to use their notes when completing the Exit Ticket. We hope that this will help scholars build focus, note-taking, and application skills needed for college.
Guided Notes
Guided notes are often handed out to scholars in mathematic classes. The notes highlight the key concepts of the instruction. The blank space is provided, so scholars can fill in as the lesson progresses, which promotes scholars' engagement and help them keep notes in organized and meaningful manner. Scholars are encouraged to use these notes to complete exit tickets.
