Senior Graduation Update!

Good afternoon,

Yesterday, you received notice from Dr. Williams that we now have clearance to hold face-to-face ceremonies per our Governor's Phase One Blueprint. Yesterday and overnight, we have been working diligently as a team to develop a plan that ensures safety for our staff and school community, is aligned with LCPS standards, and celebrates the students in the Class of 2020.

Today, I am prepared to share some of the details related to this ceremony at Rock Ridge.

  • Ceremonies will take place on June 15-18th in our temperature-controlled Auditorium.

  • Distancing guidelines will require that we do not have hand-to hand contact and safe measures will be in place for diploma, flowers and paperwork distribution.

  • Students will be able to sign up for specific 30 minute time slots (10 students per time slot) and will be asked to arrive 15 minute before their designated time.

  • Sign up time slots will go live on June 2nd at 5:00PM. There are 600 available slots.

  • Students will be permitted to have 5 family members attend with them.

  • Students will have their name called, turn their tassels, receive their diploma and have a picture on our main stage.

  • There will be designated photo areas inside and outside of school as well as on campus.

  • Professional photographers will be in attendance to take a formal stage photo and family photo for purchase.

  • A virtual program with guest speakers, student speakers and music selection will be available for viewing on a designated YouTube channel.

  • If there are family conflicts with the week of June 15th, we will work to host a make-up ceremony for July 1st, 2020.

You will be provided maps, details and additional safety measures on Monday, June 8th in a connect-ed message.

As a reminder, material drop off and Cap and Gown pick-up will also take place on June 8th - see tomorrow’s message for details!

We are excited for this opportunity and will plan to accentuate the School Spirit that this class exudes. We look forward to seeing these seniors RISE soon!
