Connecting Cherokee to the World
Twitter Challenge
Complete the tasks listed below and connect yourself to the world.
Why Twitter?
Twitter enables you to become a connected educator who can instantly connect to educators worldwide who are interested in the same things as you. Go beyond the four walls of our school/district and your comfort zone to learn all Twitter can offer you!
Twitter Basics
Day 1 - Thursday, April 30th
Sign up for a Twitter account. Make sure you change the egg to a picture and update your profile so that others can see your role in education, passion, and interests. If you already have an account help someone get set up. www.twitter.com
Day 2 - Friday, May 1st
Compose a tweet telling the world a bit about yourself. Perhaps something funny/interesting or otherwise engaging. Add this hashtag #cmschat to the end of your tweet. If you don't know what to say, try something like: "Hi I am new to Twitter. I teach (7th grade math) and am looking forward to connecting with other educators."
*Make sure to share your Twitter handle with Cherokee by adding the hashtag #cmschat
Day 3 - Saturday, May 2nd or Sunday, May 3rd
Find & follow 5 new people on Twitter. Search for people with similar interests or that teach the same grade/subjects. You can google "top (subject/grade/interest) to follow on twitter." Some people to consider: @pernilleripp @joykirr @wmchamberlain
Day 4 - Monday, May 4th
Take a look at the Weekly Twitter Chat Times & commit to a chat sometime in the next week. Using the link below, find one (or more) that you think sound interesting and more importantly relevant to you. This is a great way to find educators in your specialized area.
Tweet out which chat you will be attending using the chat hashtag and #cmschat
Example: I'm going to be joining #engchat on Monday! #cmschat
Remember, lurking (just watching) a chat is okay. Follow people that interest you in the chat.
Day 5 - Tuesday, May 5th
Take a photo with a team member or colleague and tag the photo using the hashtag #cmschat
OR
Tweet a photo of quality work completed in your classroom today! Use the hashtag #cmschat *make sure student names cannot be seen on the work*
Tip - Retweet other's pictures and spread the success.
Day 6 - Wednesday, May 6th
We have some rockstar colleagues! Tweet out something a colleague is doing in teaching that you want to know more about or you think should be shared. Add their Twitter handle if you know it and #cmschat

Day 8 - Friday, May 8th
