FJVD Weekly Info

We Live the Word!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear FJVD Families,

We've had another stellar week at FJVD! Mrs. Burns announced the 2019-2020 Drama Production of The Little Mermaid! We can't wait to see this production take shape. See the flyer under Important Forms and Documents below for more information!

We also received our shipment of twenty five new dulcimers for our music students! These introductory string instruments are wonderful learning tools for our young musicians. You can hear a sample of the same dulcimer our students will use in class in the video here.

Looking ahead, I hope to see many of you at our 5th Annual Car Show & Vendor Fair tomorrow from 9am-2pm here at the school. Don't miss the opportunity to see some incredible cars, purchase beautiful items from our vendors, and of course dunk Fr. Woolley and myself in the dunk tank! There will also be games for kids and a tremendous book sale!

We also begin our first round of STAR testing next week. Generally, STAR testing is conducted three times over the course of the year for all students in grades K-8. These tests, administered on Chromebooks or tablets, only take approximately 20-25 minutes to complete and provide teachers with immediate, detailed results that help provide a personalized learning experience for all of our students.

In addition, don't forget that this Tuesday, September 17th is our first Breakfast with the Principal from 8:10am-8:45am in the Lunchroom. If you'd like to join me for some light breakfast and conversation, you can RSVP here. These breakfasts will be held on various days and times throughout the year.

Finally, mark your calendars for Grandparents' Day on Monday, October 7th! More information, including a detailed schedule, will be available next week. Stay tuned!

As always, thank you for your continued support. Wishing you and your families a restful weekend and blessed week in the days ahead!

Go Saints!

Sincerely,

Mr. Peloquin

Volunteer Opportunities

Yearbook Coordinators Needed

We are currently looking for parent volunteers interested in organizing our Yearbook efforts. This would include taking and collecting photographs, designing pages, and working together with our Lifetouch representatives to construct the yearbook itself. Good news! Lifetouch has moved to a more user-friendly design program. Little to no technical experience is required!

If you or someone you know may be interested in assisting with our Yearbook, please contact the school!

Fundraising & Contest Opportunities

Hulafrog Contest!

Participate in the FJVD Certificate Program!

This program is a great way to reduce the cost of your tuition while supporting FJVDl!

The Process:

  • The school purchases shopping cards from all of your favorite stores
  • You purchase the cards from the school, paying face value and spending the same dollars you would have paid to the stores directly
  • The school earns a percentage discount offered by participating stores.

For each $50.00 you spend, you get a stamp on your Tuition Discount Card. Fill the entire card and redeem it for a $75.00 tuition credit!

Cards currently available include:

Stop & Shop, Applebee's, Barnes & Noble, Dave's, Dunkin Donuts Panera, Wal-Mart and more!

Stop by the school Wednesdays from 10am-12pm or in the vestibule after the 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30am Sunday Masses to purchase your gift cards!

Aluminum Can Tab Collection

What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected

Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence

How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.

Bottle Cap Drive

We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This opens up

Father John V. Doyle School to new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.

All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.

Thank you!
