Rule #1: Digital Ettiquete
Pause before you post. Is what your saying True, Helpful, Inspirational, Necessary, or Kind? If not then you shouldn't post it. Would you like it if someone was saying rude or hateful things about you? On the other end of your flame war there is a real person with real feelings, so just remember pause before you post!
Rule #2: Information Privacy
Before you share your information you need to think about who is getting it and what they're going to do with it. People can scam you into giving information you don't want to give like credit card numbers, or your bank acount, email, or adress.
Rule #3: Social Networking
Use your head and keep private things private. Don't share anything you don't want other people to know. Things like personal photos or the adress to your house!!!
Rule #4: Online Safety
Be careful on the internet. Keep your identity a secret, watch out for strangers all you know is what they tell you, tell somebody if something is wrong, and lastly be nice.
Rule #5: Cyberbullying
NEVER bully anybody online or if you're being bullied tell someone and they can help you out. Cyber bullying is not a nice thing to do you can ruin one's self confidence and give them bad depression. If you're ever bullied tell an adult so they can fix it.
Rule #6: Plagiarism
Stealing someone's ideas/words is wrong. Most likely if you plagiarize something you'll get an F. You can do things like paraphrase or put the sentence(s) in quotations and list the author.
Rule #7: Copyright
Copyright is legal protection to one's creative work, when something is copyrighted you can't copy, perform, show, give away their work. In some ways you can give others permission to perform or give out your work. If someone performs (etc.) your work without your permission you can take them to court and potentially sue them.
Digital Citizenship
Digital Citizenship is very important because it matter whenever your online whether your playing a game or chatting on facebook. It can teach you things like being nice to others online, or how you shouldn't give out personal information, or how if you copy someone's work you can get an F on your paper or if it's a song you can even be sued. If no one had digital citizenship the internet would be a scary unsafe place where people hurt others. When you post something mean about someone else you can seriously hurt someone's feelings and ruin someone's self confidence. It's important that you pause before you post so the internet is a nice fun place!!!
