A Note from the Student Life Dean, Jameil Floyd
Hi everyone!
My name is Jameil Floyd, and I am the Student Life Dean for the UChicago 2014 SIG session. This is my 6th session working with SIG, and I am delighted to serve as a part of this administrative team.
The students are enthusiastically engaging in all aspects of Student Life; they are having fun with their counselor groups in the dorms, enjoying the many planned evening activities, and getting out to explore Chicago's cultural offerings on Saturday Getaway trips. At SIG we strive to create an activities program that fosters social as well as intellectual engagement through unique and distinctive cultural, intellectual and recreational opportunities. Seeing the students have fun and enjoy their time here at SIG is the reason I am grateful to come back every year and be their Student Life Dean.
I cannot believe that a full week has already passed! My Student Life staff is working extremely hard to make our students HAPPY and I appreciate them for the dedication and effort that they have put forth.
Stay safe, grow, and be HAPPY!
REMINDER: Commuter to residential conversion ends this Friday, August 1st.

Saturday Getaway: The Field Museum
Saturday was our first Saturday Getaway trip, and it was a lot of fun for all of the campers!
We started our day at the Chicago Field Museum of Natural History. The students got to travel around the museum with their counselor groups and explore exhibits on Senegal, the evolution of the planet, the Ancient Americas, and many more!
After a few hours of exploring, we all came together in the "Lions of Tsavo" gallery to enjoy a lunch catered by the Field Museum. The Museum had arranged for our meal to be served in the gallery, surrounded by different lion and Asian mammal exhibits.
When we finished lunch, the students boarded the bus to spend a few hours shopping at the Water Tower Place shopping mall, and then came back to South Residence Hall for dinner and a movie!
