West Times Newsletter 1.27.2020
NEWS FROM THE GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT
Attention Sophomores:
The Class of 2022 would like to invite parents and students to our information session on Tuesday, January 28th at 6:30 p.m. in the CB West Auditorium. Topics covered will include an overview of the Program Planning Process, a review of the PSAT score report, and other timeline particulars for the rest of this year. Please mark your calendar, we look forward to seeing you.
Attention Juniors:
We hope you can join us for a presentation for parents focused on College Planning, to be held at the CB West Auditorium on January 30th at 6:30pm. A small part of this presentation will review scheduling for senior year, but the majority of the content is designed to guide you through the next stage of the college search process. 11th grade counselors will be presenting similar information to students during the school day, but your student is welcome to attend if they would like to hear the information more than once. If you are unable to attend this event, the PPT and any related materials will be posted to the Class of 2021 Guidance Page.
Attention Seniors:
- Mid-Year Reports, containing your grades from courses completed in first semester, will automatically be sent to each college to which you have applied. You do not need to submit any forms requesting these to be sent out. Mid-Years will be sent as soon as possible after grades are posted to your transcripts (approximately February 10, 2020).
- Scholarships – The Guidance Office has posted many scholarships on Naviance, and more scholarships come in every day! In your Naviance account, click on the “Colleges Tab,” the “Scholarships and Money” link, and then ‘Scholarship List” link. You can filter the list by topical area, or sort by application deadline date. Be sure to follow all directions as indicated by the individual scholarship listings. Please visit the Scholarships page of the Guidance Website for links to Naviance and other scholarship search databases.
Program Planning
Tenth and Eleventh Grade Counselors are in the process of visiting 1st semester English classes to review course selection for next year. The Student Portal for Course Registration opened on Friday, January 10th, and will remain open until Sunday, February 9th at 11pm. During the month of February, counselors will meet individually with students to review course selections and answer students’ questions. Please visit the Program Planning page of the Guidance Website for helpful information, links, and dates.

When you complete registration you will receive a confirmation number. Please record and save your confirmation number.

Physical Exams and Meningitis Immunization
Attention ALL Students:
The State of Pennsylvania requires ALL students in 11th grade to have a physical
