HOLY ROSARY SCHOOL
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3 | WEEK 8 | 8 SEPTEMBER 2023

The great task of religion is to keep us fully awake, alert, and conscious. Then we will know whatever it is that we need to know. When we are present, we will know the Presence. It is that simple and that hard. Too much religion has encouraged us to be unconscious, but God respects us too much for that.
Richard Rohr

Hi Everyone,
This is a big week for our Year Four families as the children and their families prepare for First Communion. Wednesday night’s Parent-child workshops were very well attended. This has been followed by the children attending the Eucharist retreat today. On Sunday they will also be attending one of the commitment masses. Please keep them in your prayers as they take this next step on their faith journey - a big deal for them.
Also this weekend some of us will join in working on the Parish Pastoral Care Plan of our parish, Our Lady of the Rosary. It should be an interesting and rewarding experience.
Assembly this morning was a hoot! The Year One children and their teachers Kaity and Riana did so well and it was a joy to be there.
The athletics carnival is next Friday and is a lot of fun. We hope that you can be there!
Enjoy the weekend

A Couple of Reminders
Supervision After School #3
On Monday, with the exception of children attending the soccer clinic on the oval and those involved in the ‘Write a Book in a Day’ competition, everyone had departed school by 3.15. Thank you very much for your support.

Year 4 – 6 Enrichment
On Monday, 4th of September, the Enrichment team and some selected students competed in the Write a Book in a Day competition. This is a nationally run competition, which raises funds for the Kid’s Cancer Project. With the help of Ms Berry and Mr. Kinder, they split into 2 groups, each writing a fantastic book, that needed to follow a list of parameters.
Our books ‘The Flood of Change’ and ‘The Magical Headphones’ are here for you to enjoy!
So far, our school’s fundraising page has raised over $4000! If you would like to donate, our fundraising page is open until 30th September.

Congratulations to our Year 4 swimming champ, Ava Bradley
Ava participated in the State Short Course Championships at HBF Challenge Stadium, winning,
Gold for the 9-year-old 50m Butterfly,
Silver in the 4 x 50m Medley Relay and
Bronze in the 50m Breaststroke and 100m Individual Medley.
Well done, Ava on your impressive results. You are a legend!

Parking on Wednesday Afternoon - 13 September
What is expected to be a large funeral is scheduled for 2pm in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, meaning that parking will likely be completely full around school and church. Drive through for Years 1-6, and Hale Hockey Parking for PK and K may be much better options. Plenty of patience, and mindfulness of neighbouring properties may be required. Thankyou!

Library News
This week is National Child Protection Week. In library we have been talking about the Rights of the Child and the importance of speaking up and standing up for what’s right. This is a really important conversation to have at home as well. Leading into R U OK? Day, we are focussing on inclusion, kindness and the effects of being a bystander. The books on display reflect this and students have been encouraged to borrow them to support themselves with learning self care and looking out for others. https://www.napcan.org.au/

Hot Tip for State Government Employees
Did you know most State Government departments offer their employees two, paid days of Community Involvement Leave each year?
These days could be utilised well to help in the school canteen without having to use one of your precious annual leave days! Working in the canteen is also a great way to meet other awesome parents and see the kids smiles at lunch time.
To join the canteen fun (it is not hard or scary) please email admin@hrs.wa.edu.au or text Leanna on 0414 953 958.
