What a great first day!
The staff were ready. The building looked awesome. The students were excited to be back. Everything went well for our first day of the 2016-2017 school year. As I stopped in to classrooms Thursday, the energy was awesome. The students were smiling and laughing, but they were reading and doing math and working together. The best part was hearing the staff saying things like "What a respectful group of students" and "The students are so ready to learn." We'll do our best, every day, to keep the energy level high, continue to build relationships, and provide great learning opportunities for our students.
First day video
Thanks to Mrs. Iwanski for taking photos during the day yesterday, compiling photos from Twitter, and putting together the awesome video below! Did I say it was a great first day already?

Mrs. Carey NIemczyk (7/8 Social Studies)
Mrs. Niemczyk is a proud graduate of the Marquette University and teaches Social Studies to our 7th and 8th graders. Her hometown is South Bend, Indiana. Mrs. Niemczyk is married to Joe and they have two children, Ben and Sarah. She likes to read, especially fantasy books, travels as often as she can, loves musical theater, and likes to work in her flower garden. As a child, Mrs. Niemczyk wanted to be an astronaut or the star of a Broadway play. Her favorite thing about teaching in Merton is the kids and the staff. She loves them! The funniest thing that a student said to Mrs. Niemczyk was, "Emmanuel's eye is ON THE FLOOR, and it was." It's a great story only she can tell. Her favorite book is "Lord of the Rings" or anything by Terry Brooks, favorite movie is "TheWizard of Oz", and favorite song is "For Good" from the musical Wicked. I hope this helps you to know a little bit more about Mrs. Niemczyk.
