A Message from Mrs. Douthart
Principal, Five Forks Middle School
Dear Five Forks Families,
It is hard to believe that we are beginning week 7 of this new way of learning. Our teachers and students (and you) continue to knock it out of the ballpark! Thank you!
I want to remind you to encourage your students to stick with it! Teachers are wrapping up final units, projects, and common assessments, and it is so important for our students to continue the work! Please check the portal regularly and look at your child's current grades. If you see an "NTI" in the grade book, that means your child has not done the work/turned it in. It currently counts as a "zero" and is impacting your child's grades. We need all NTI's completed by the week of final exams which start on May 11th. (5/11-Connections A & B, 5/12-Language Arts, 5/13-Science, 5/14 Social Studies, 5/14-Math, and 5/18-Biology)
To support learning, our teachers continue to offer opportunities for "live" sessions. I have personally attended many of these, and it is awesome to see the teachers and students interact and learn together. Many teachers are also creating videos to share with students that are very informative and definitely support learning at high levels! These live and recorded sessions are posted on e-CLASS and in Google Classroom for students.
As you probably know, Gwinnett County Public Schools sent some very important Digital Learning updates this past week. In that communication, you were made aware that local schools will create plans for students to be able to drop off school-owned items (instruments, library books, Chromebooks, etc.) and will be able to pick their personal belongings during the weeks of May 18th and 25th. Our leadership team is creating a plan that will minimize any type of contact and spread it out over many days. Please look for that plan in my next DLD communication with you. Additionally, you can click on the link to go directly to the GCPS communication. GCPS Digital Learning Update -May 1, 2020
A reminder that this week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and I know it would mean a lot to hear from students and parents just how much they are appreciated. If you follow us on Facebook, we plan to do a "running thread" of shout outs from parents and students to share a little "love" and encouragement to our staff!
As always, it is my pleasure to lead Five Forks-the very best middle school.
Christine Douthart
