Shout Outs
- T. Peneva and our 5th grade strings students as they put on a great performance at Crossroads this past Tuesday. A talented group of musicians led by Ms. Peneva.
- Front office staff, custodial staff, homeroom teachers, B. Gantt, and C. Sommers for their contributions for Friday's tag ceremonies.
- S. Beckman for the lead taken on our essential eight initiative. This school wide effort requires a lot of work behind the scenes as we seek to develop habits of the heart for learners small and tall.
- Each month artwork from one D5 school is displayed at our district office. Artists from DFES are featured this month. Shout out to our artists and under the leadership of A. Johnson.

Reading Intervention Speed Dating
The literacy team has invited homeroom teacher Speed Dating on Tuesday for only part of a part of their planning. Mid-year is a critical time to reflect on progress, and talk through a plan together for the next 4 months of instruction in both the classroom and intervention settings.
The intervention team and teachers will look at students served in Tier 2/3A and who teachers have on a Tier 1 plan, this will only require up to 25 minutes of their planning--five minutes per child plus a five minute conversation about Tier 1 plans. Teachers are asked to bring recent data (anecdotal notes, running records, writing samples--it all counts).
This information is shared collectively to make everyone aware of efforts taken that align with district goal (2) of identifying areas of achievement to improve.

You won't need to stop your instruction but please inform your students that you class may have visitors.

High Five with Richland County Sheriff's Deputies
The Richland Counties Sheriff's Department has partnered with our local districts for an initiative called High Five Friday. It is an opportunity for the department to visit local schools and welcome students upon their morning arrival with high fives. This morning is typically accompanied with some celebratory music. The event provides an opportunity for students to continue to law enforcement in a positive light. We look forward to having them with us.
