Forest Grove Family Falcon Update
March 23, 2023
Message from the Principal
Dear Forest Grove Falcon Families,
Thank you for all your support as we work through these weather challenges. The work on the tree, at the parking lot that leads to the back gate, continues this afternoon. We anticipate the work will be completed before tomorrow morning. We appreciate your patience when picking up students on Congress Avenue. Thank you to all the staff who have volunteered to support with student dismissal.
We had a successful TK/K orientation evening with all of our TK/K teachers in attendance to welcome our families and answer their questions about our classes. We look forward to a new group of students to the 2023-24 classes in Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten. For open house on April 26, 2023, we will invite incoming TK/K families to join us in the TK/K area at 5:45 pm for a preview.
All families, please mark your calendar for April 26 from 6:00-7:00pm to visit Forest Grove's classrooms during open house. We will begin our evening in the multipurpose room and will proceed to the classroom visits.
We are proud of our students and continue to award Falcon feathers. They continue to impress us with great choices as they SOAR being Safe, On-task, Accountable, Respectful throughout the day. This month our focus is on being Accountable! We will be holding our assemblies during March to focus on Accountable. We held our 3rd-5th grade assembly yesterday and we had a bucket filled with Falcon feathers. There were fourteen winners who were recognized for their contribution for soaring.
If you have any questions, concerns, suggestions or commendations, you can use this email address created for FG parents: FGdeer@pgusd.org. Forest Grove Falcon Family Faculty Spotlight
Molly Kriva, MS, CCC-SLP, Speech-Language Pathologist
Background and Education:
I grew up in Milwaukee, WI. My alma mater is Northwestern University, from which I obtained both my BA and MS degrees. This is my second year at Forest Grove, although I have been a Speech-Language Pathologist within the district for longer.
Interests:
Likely, you have seen me running around town. I love to run and have completed many of the local races including the Big Sur Marathon. My family also enjoys attending sporting events-- we were recently able to see the Northwestern Wildcats at the NCAA Basketball Tournament and we are Green Bay Packer fans, as well.
Please share one favorite elementary school memory:
Going on so many amazing field trips, like visiting the Milwaukee Art Museum and attending symphony concerts.
What Do You Love About Forest Grove?
I love the inclusion spirit on campus; all are welcome and valued.
Ms. Kriva, your classes are enjoyable, inviting and inclusive. It is always a pleasure to see how you interact with students at a very personal level providing positive feedback while building on their skills. Forest Grove is lucky to have your expertise and warmth. Thank you for your compassion for and dedication to our Forest Grove Falcon Family!
Grade Level/Program Highlight
Speech-Language
A Speech-Language Pathologist supports the prevention, assessment, and intervention of speech and language disorders. SLPs work with students who may experience a range of communication disorders, including those involving language, articulation (speech sound disorders), fluency, and voice/resonance. SLPs address personal, social, academic, and vocational needs that have an impact on attainment of educational goals.
Message From Nurse Powley
A friendly reminder that a medication consent form should be completed with parent and healthcare signature for all over-the-counter and prescribed medications given at school. This includes cough drops and throat lozenges.
