This Week's News

In math this week we will be returning to our fraction unit. This is a big part of 3rd grade and we want to make sure that all students have a solid foundation with fractions.

In reading, we are finally ready to start breaking into smaller groups to focus on goals for poetry. We have been using a new program, called FlipSnack, to record our work for this poetry. Students will also be meeting with their lit circles groups to begin discussing their biographies.

We are also continuing our work towards exhibition by focusing on the connection between culture and the land. Students will begin to research these ideas and create an infographic with this information. We will be learning another program for creating these infographics.

Digital Learning Plan

In the coming weeks, there will likely be a lot of publicity about WCPS' new Digital Learning Plan which will significantly increase the amount of technology in schools throughout our county. In our magnet classrooms, we will be swapping out some of our older generation iPads for newer generation iPads. Other than that, our magnet classrooms will not be impacted by the new digital plan.

I wanted to share this information with you prior to other information coming out about the new plan. As always, if you have any questions let me know!
