Mary's Mount Primary School
Term 3, Week 1 - 23 July 2021
PRAYER FOR THE FIRST WORLD DAY FOR GRANDPARENTS AND THE ELDERLY
I thank You, Lord, for the comfort of Your presence: even in times of loneliness,
You are my hope and my confidence,
You have been my rock and my fortress since my youth!
I thank You for having given me a family and for having blessed me with a long life.
I thank You for moments of joy and difficulty, for the dreams that have already come true in my life and for those that are still ahead of me.
I thank You for this time of renewed fruitfulness to which You call me.
Increase, O Lord, my faith, make me a channel of your peace, teach me to embrace those who suffer more than me, to never stop dreaming and to tell of your wonders to new generations. Protect and guide Pope Francis and the Church, that the light of the Gospel might reach the ends of the earth.
Send Your Spirit, O Lord, to renew the world, that the storm of the pandemic might be calmed, the poor consoled and wars ended.
Sustain me in weakness and help me to live life to the full in each moment that You give me, in the certainty that you are with me every day, even until the end of the age.
Amen.
PRINCIPAL'S NEWS
Dear Parents and Carers
I trust that you have had a restful break. The persistent rain certainly forced some down time, which has given all community members the chance to recharge. The staff are feeling energised and are excited about the teaching and learning opportunities that Term 3 has on offer.
CYBER SAFETY
It has come to my attention that students in our school are active on the TikTok App. I have been in direct communication with the Year 5 and Year 6 parents regarding this. I feel that we can all be empowered by knowledge, so I am sharing information with the whole school community below.
A full run down on this can be seen via Common Sense Media - HERE.
Mary’s Mount Primary School has a comprehensive Parent Hub that you can access on our school website and can also be found HERE.
Telethon Kids Institute have developed and released Beacon, which is a Cyber Safety App for parents. Beacon – HERE, offers content for parents and it is free to download and use.
Other online links to help you in this space are below;
Surf Online Safe YouTube Channel – HERE, which also offers some good tips and hints for parents.
The eSafety Commission website also has resources and advice for parents – HERE.
MARY’S MOUNT PRIMARY SCHOOL IS OFFERING SUPPORT by holding a parent workshop on Thursday 5 August in Week 3 from 6-7pm. I highly recommend everyone attend this information session. Please click the link below to RSVP.
My door is always open, and I welcome you in connecting with me if you have any worries or questions. I am passionate about working with our parent community to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students. I trust that we can work in harmony and mutual respect of all in this quest.
HOMEWORK CLUB
Homework Club will start on Tuesday 27 July, commencing at 7.45am. Children in Year 2 to Year 6 are welcome.
NAIDOC CELEBRATION
This morning the Year 2 class lead by Mrs Branche guided the school community through a touching paraliturgy. Mr Ugle started the paralitugy with welcome to Country, and we thank him for his ongoing support and generosity in giving his time to us. Mrs McKay, our Transforming Lives Advocate has been working with the children and supporting us in teaching them the correct pronunciation to sing in Noongar. This morning the children sang We Are One in Noongar to conclude the service. It was a powerful message of unity.
From little things big things grow – our small acts of love, kindness, compassion and peace can build strong foundations for positive relationships with all.
WEEK 2 LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE
Mr Smith is recovering well from his knee surgery; unfortunately, he will not be back with us next week. Mr Joe Bartucciotto, our School Improvement Advisor will be working onsite at Mary’s Mount Primary School to support Mrs Leech as I will be on leave for the week.
Ms THRESHER WENT MISSING ON TUESDAY
Ms Thresher attended a Professional Learning event which focused on mentoring in a school setting. Ms Thresher found the event inspiring and will be sharing her learning with the staff so that we can enhance our practices in how we grow as educators.
The Year One students were surprised to find Ms Thresher was not at school and a relief teacher was in their classroom. As a fun writing activity, the children brainstormed where they thought Ms Thresher would be and what she was doing.
CANTEEN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Our canteen has been operating great this term thanks to Michelle Sanderson who has taken on the role of Canteen Manager however Michelle can't prepare and deliver the 170 average orders we receive every Friday by herself! So please consider helping Michelle out on a Friday if you can as without some volunteers to help her, we wouldn't be able to run the canteen.
SACRED SPACE AND HARMONY GARDEN
During the school holidays, work started on our Sacred Space and Harmony Garden. These are two big projects I am very excited about and can't wait to see the progress of. Both of these projects have involved alot of planning and preparation, so keep an eye out on their progress throughout this term. The picture above shows the start of the work on our sacred space.
