Rostral columns appeared on Vasilevsky Island in 1810. Trunks are decorated with beaks of the ships or their sculptural images. The tradition of erecting booms in honor of naval victories dating back to Rome. Rostral columns are monument naval glory of Russia.

Paul Fortress

It is the original citadel of St. Petersburg founded by Peter the Great in 1703 .It is the central and the most important part of of Saint Petersburg History.Also you can visit some churches where many of Russian tsars are buried.It is now a museum.
