Meg Lowman Treetop Program at Tanglewood
Please see information about an opportunity for girls in the community ages 9-12.
The Meg Lowman Treetops Camp is for girls aged 9-12 years old and will be held the week of July 31-August 4 form 10am-3pm.
The camp is created with several goals in mind:
- To provide strong female mentoring to girls
- To introduce the scientific method in various ways throughout the week
- To get the girls outdoors and foster an appreciation for our natural world, using Meg Lowman (www.canopymeg.com) as an example of a successful local woman that dedicated her life to working for the betterment of the environment.
The 5-day schedule and application are attached. On the application, Questions 1-5 must be answered by the CAMPER ONLY and Questions 6-8 will require grown up help.
The applications are to be sent to:
Tanglewood Nature Center & Museum, Attn: Meg Lowman, 443 Coleman Ave, Elmira, NY 14903, postmarked no later than 6/29/2023.

The times for lunch are now the same time each day:
Grade 3- 10:30-11:15
Grade 4- 11:15-12:00
Grade 5- 12:00-12:45
Grade 6- 12:45-1:30
Please note:
- All regular specials times stayed the same.
- Grade 3 reading time changed by 15 min. (11:15-12:15).
- Grade 3 second special time changed by 15 min. (1:15-1:45) on Odd weeks.
- MBE was added into the schedule but does not have to be done consecutively.
- Second Step time was scheduled in on Wednesdays (exit tickets do NOT have to be turned in, Kelley is monitoring progress on SecondStep.org dashboard)
- Tier 1 ELA and Math are 60 minutes for all grades and follows the EngageNY Modules and the pacing guide (Click here)
- Tier 2 ELA (Reading- Read180 or System44) is 60 minutes for all grades.
- Tier 3 Reading (iReady) is scheduled by grade level with Reading Teachers.
- Tier 2 Math (iReady) is 30-35 minutes Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

87% of our Instructional Staff have signed up for a Better Lesson Coach and our goal is 100%.
Kelley will put reminders in mailboxes if you still need to sign up.

Better Lesson Logs can be turned in if you're receiving DPD credit for them in the PD Log slot above my mailbox. Marnie wants these monthly- I will turn in the next batch to her on 4/28.
Second Step Update
88% of classrooms have completed lesson 1.
42% of classrooms have completed up to lesson 3.
The requirement is to do at least one lesson per week starting last week.
There are 20 lessons in the program with each lesson lasting approximately 20 minutes. Please try to complete two lessons per week if possible.
