The Triton Tribune - Parent Edition
Be Kind ~ Be Awesome ~ Make The Right Choices
Volume 2 ~ Issue 18~ November 30, 2020
Wonderful Triton Families,
Welcome back from Thanksgiving Break. I hope that you enjoyed a safe and unforgettable time with your family. As we approach the end of the semester, I want to remind all of us that we can and will finish strong. If your grades are in good standing, continue doing what you are doing. If your grades need help, please use all available support that is provided for you. Some of you might feel that it is hopeless; however, this is the time to exercise your muscle of perseverance even though the outcome might be bleak. The reward of hard work will pay off in the end even when you don't see it immediately.
Upcoming Event: Socks and Gift Card Collection for the Homeless Community
Last year and for the first time ever, ELM instituted the Triton Motivational Send-Off where we ended the semester with learning time with a motivational speaker, playing time with each other and giving time to others. Our giving activity benefitted our military community as students created Christmas Military Packages to be given to the USO. In the end, students created 1500 packages that USO estimated to be around a$15,000 donation. Our Triton Community came through during the holiday season. While this year, we will not be able to host the Triton Motivation Send-Off, we would like to focus on the giving aspect of the Send-Off. This year, our focus will be on the Homeless Community in San Diego. We are submitting a proposal to the district to host a donation drive by for new socks and gift cards. These donations will go to organizations who provided support to the growing homeless population in Chula Vista and San Diego County as well as our homeless students in the district. It is even more important this year to show our gratitude by giving to others who are in need of our kindness. We are working out the details of this event and we will share with you the information on this significant gesture to our homeless community. Our goal is for every student to give something to our cause. Please discuss as a family why this is so important.
Eastlake Educational Foundation Fundraising Campaign
This past Friday, EEF launched its fundraising campaign. This campaign raises funds to support the technological needs of ELM as well as other schools in the area. As distance learning continues, our technological needs will increase. I am inviting you to join me in supporting this year's campaign. Click on this link to learn about the Come Together Community Campaign. There are different levels of sponsorships. Each donation, no matter how big or small, counts and WILL make a difference. You may also donate by texting to 619. 333.5548 and text the code: elmiddle. This will ensure that 100% of your donation will go directly to ELM. The donation window is from November 19 - December 31. We can do this!

Coming in the next two weeks! Yearbook Photo Digital Upload via Jostens App
In the upcoming days, Jostens will release its app to be able to take pictures that will serve as the picture for this year's picture. We are excited to be working directly with Jostens to make this happen for students so that their yearbook will be complete. Once it is released, the Yearbook class will send information about uploading your yearbook picture for 2020-2021.
