Climate Survey for Parents & Students:
We want to know what YOU think about your child’s school.
What grade would you give the school?
Do the staff at the school really care about your child?
Do you feel welcome at the school?
You are invited to participate in the annual School Climate Parent Survey!
The survey is anonymous and the results are used to understand and improve the educational climate of our schools.
Below is a link to the survey site:

School Funding Advocacy at the State Legislature
- HB 272 is a bill increasing the base student allocation (BSA) to $6,153 in FY22 and $6,208 in FY23.
- HB 273 is a bill increasing the base student allocation (BSA) by a percentage tied to the inflation indicated by the Consumer Price Index in urban Alaska.
- HB 259 is a bill creating a plan for a Permanent Fund 25/75 POMV Split with funding for education - this would create a plan to fund the increases in the BSA.
The BSA hasn't been increased since 2017 and the graphic below shows the impact of inflation over that time. While there has been substantial one time additional funding to schools, without a change to the BSA school districts cannot count on that funding in future fiscal years.

Opportunity for 8th-12th grade students interested in exploring leadership
What is AK|Next?
Cultivating and connecting young leaders who practice collective leadership with empathy.
AK|Next is a program open to all 8th-12th grade students in Alaska interested in exploring leadership - we need all types of young people! Everyone has the potential to change their community. Together we will explore different ways of approaching leadership, give space for participants to reflect on their values, and practice their collective leadership skills. We're seeking students who are passionate, eager to represent their communities, and excited about learning with and from other students from across Alaska. We want to build a movement of young people inspiring change in their communities.
AK|Next is a week-long, overnight program with housing provided. The program is provided at no cost to participants.
