SSMS Teachers are looking for PUZZLES to use this month as an aid for the habit "begin with the end in mind". If you have anything to donate, please leave in the front office, ATTN: Ms. Smart. Any size puzzle, missing pieces are not a big deal. THANK YOU! Please drop off by October 15th.

CHILI Cook-off to feed our staff and become the chili/soup champion of SSMS is at the end of the month (10/29)! Sign up here to bring in an item, or to compete in the cook-off:

“Pride Paws” are handed out to SSMS students as rewards for showing exemplary behavior and good grades. They can in turn be used as “cash” for the Pride Paw Cart (which is run purely on donations by parents and SSMS PTA). If you would like to donate items please got to to view the wish list. Items can also be dropped off in the front office. She is currently hoping for bags of individually wrapped Halloween candy! Thank you all for helping out - you are appreciated!!

MAP Assessment Scores Now Available in Skyward Family Access

The scores report is available to you through Family Access. To view the report, login to Skyward Family Access and click on Report Card/Portfolio. The attachment is titled Fall 2021 NWEA-MAP Scores. Included in this attachment are a letter of explanation, a sample report, and your students' scores. Please reach out to your math or ELA teacher or assistant principal if you have any questions about NWEA® MAP® testing.


We are so excited to be sharing this opportunity with our students again this year! Because of the travel restrictions of the last couple of years, we are opening the trip to all 7th AND 8th graders. After this year, however, only 7th grade students will be invited to attend.

Here are Frequently Asked Questions about the trip - if you would like to sign up, there is a link at the bottom of the FAQ document. Your enrollment coupon will be sent home with your child beginning next week.

DSISD Annual Dyslexia Parent Information Night

The DSISD Dyslexia team will be hosting our Annual Dyslexia Parent Information night on Wednesday, Oct. 27 from 5:30 to 7. This will be a virtual event for anyone interested in learning more about dyslexia and tips for supporting their children with dyslexia at home. Everyone is welcome to attend and no registration is required.
