COUGAR COURIER
January 2023
Happy New Year
- We began using our new Fine Arts building.
- We expanded and split our third grade and were able to use our newly renovated Early Childhood Room to temporarily house one of our third grade classes.
- Mrs. Bell is leading us in using our Impact Room. It has been a great addition to our learning community.
- We had 7th and 8th grade students participate with our co-op sports with Harrisonville in football, volleyball and cheer during the fall season and currently have two students playing basketball.
- Both the Middle School and K-4 students shared their hard work at a Veterans Day and Christmas Concert.
- The Lil' Cats Chorale made their debut and delighted us with their beautiful sound.
- The Outdoor Kids Club relocated and replanted their garden boxes.
- STUCO raised funds for HOPE HAVEN and collected canned goods and pet supplies for some local organizations.
- With our increased enrollment we added another staff member to our cafeteria staff and Ms .Cyndi and Ms. Shawnee have kept us well fed and taken care of each and every day!
- We've incorporated STEAM lessons in each grade this year. Mrs. Mehrhoff has been spearheading this program and we look forward to further expansion.
This semester and in 2023 we look forward to continuing with these efforts and will work each day to "....establish a safe learning environment where all students, being held to high expectations, excel and become lifelong learners."

2023-2024 District Calendar
The East Lynne 40 School District will continue to run on a four-day week schedule for the 2023-2024 school year. We will be in session for a full day every Tuesday-Friday with the exception of Thanksgiving week and the last week of school (where we will have school on a Monday). We will continue to use Mondays as snow make up days as needed.
FIRST LINE OF DEFENSE
- If your child is showing symptoms and has a fever we ask that you NOT send them to school until they are fever free (without fever reducing medicine) for 24 hours.
- If your child has been diagnosed with the flu we ask that your child be both fever free and symptom free.
- If your child has thrown up they may not return to school for 24 hours.
Thank you for your support! Hoping for a healthy 2023!
Closing School for Inclement Weather
- School Facebook & Instagram Page
- Local TV stations KCTV5, Fox 4, KSHB 41
It is our goal to announce it as soon as possible. We usually do not do delayed starts as it does not really change the conditions. We may consider a delayed start if we feel that having more sunlight on the road would add another layer of protection for both students and staff.
Our High School students may experience delayed bus services if we are not in session and Harrisonville stays in session.
Closing school is always done with great consideration and with the safety of our learning community in mind.
