Dear CES Family,

It's a Veteran's Day weekend. This last Monday we took some time at our Monday Morning Meeting (you're always invited, btw) to tell our students a bit about this holiday and the meaning of it. It fits so very well with this month's character trait of "gratitude." Synonymous with the meaning of "thankfulness" in many ways, the definition of gratitude also includes the idea of being ready to show appreciation for, and to return, kindness. How appropriate for Veterans Day. We also thanked one of our staff members, Ms. Chelsie Rockwell, for her service to our country in the Air Force.

To those of our parents who are military veterans, we're grateful for you and thank you as well. We live in an amazing country! Know how much you are appreciated.

11/20 to 11/24 NO SCHOOL / Thanksgiving Vacation

In the last month, two long-time CES employees, teacher Greg McIntire ("Mr. Mac") and custodian Dan Bickel, have passed way. Many of our current students remember Dan and his deep care for them and our school. Mr. Mac, who taught at CES from 1979 to 2012, will be remembered by those of you who are former students of his, or perhaps he coached you at CHS in his role there as a girls basketball coach for seventeen years. His impact on two generations of students was significant. Both men were characterized by their generosity and commitment to our kids and our community. They were also close friends. They will both be missed.
