Make A Difference
Make a Difference Day (MDD) is an all-encompassing national day of service dedicated to helping others — a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Make a Difference Day 2019 is October 26.
"Our well-established tradition of ‘see a need, do a good deed’ on the fourth Saturday of October is grass-roots, straight-from-the-heart giving, and it reaches into nearly corner of our community, ” says MDD Co-Coordinator Laurel Helton.

Beginning with the 2019-20 school year, the Wenatchee School Board and administration committed to holding Community Conversations series to help the Board listen and understand the underlying values, concerns, and priorities of district residents, school families, and students. The Board and administration can use feedback and data collected during these conversations to aid future planning efforts and policy.
The Community Conversations series is hosted in schools and local community venues quarterly. The Board and administration provide updates about the District and pose questions about various topics for stakeholder input. These conversations are about deepening the relationship and building a partnership with residents, finding common ground on our core values around education, and having dialogue around important educational issues in our community.
The success of these conversations depends on the involvement of many different voices and we hope you will join us and share your perspectives.

WHS College Mentor Program
The Wenatchee High School College Mentor Program held their mentor-mentee meet and greet this week. Currently, there are 44 students in the program. "We always max out at 50+ within the first month of the school year," says CMP coordinator Andi Johnson.
The College Mentor Program supports low-income seniors who are the first in their family to go to college or any postsecondary education, including professional/technical certificates and academic degrees. Students are matched with community volunteer “mentors” who walk them through the college and scholarship search, selection, application and decision-making processes.
There are currently 45 mentors participating in the program. If you are looking for a rewarding opportunity to help some of our best scholars achieve their college-going dream or YOU are a scholar looking for someone to help you do just that, contact the College Mentor Program Coordinator, Andrea (Andi) Johnson, at 509-663-8117 or johnson.andrea@wenatcheeschools.org.
