Help Us Grow!

We are looking for feedback from YOU about your family's experience at Hillcrest School. Please take some time between now and February 17th to respond to THIS survey. After that time, we will use the data to develop an action plan for areas of improvement. We are always looking for ways to improve our school and your input is such an important part of that process. Thank you!

Science and Engineering Day - February 14th

It's that time of year again, when we have the opportunity to welcome students from the FLIGHT Academy into our school. The sixth, seventh and eighth grade students have planned design challenges that our students will participate in on Thursday, February 14. The Hillcrest students will be choosing their own schedule of events for this day.

We could use your help in collecting the supplies that we need for the design challenges. Please see the Sign-Up Genius link for a list of supplies.

There are also some items that we are asking our families to collect. Please try to save the items listed below and send them into school:

- Cardboard - various sizes and weights

-Bubblewrap

-Bottle caps

-Newspaper/magazines

We need all supplies to be delivered to Hillcrest by Tuesday, February 5th, so we can sort them before the big day.

Thank you so much for your help. The students really love this special day!

4th Grade Recorder Club

During the months of February and March, your student will be learning to play the recorder. Starting in early February, I will teach the basics of the recorder during our regular music classes. This will take about 4 to 5 music meetings. Then, starting in mid to late February, I will be offering a recorder club to the students who would like to further develop their skills on the recorder. This will be an optional activity provided during lunch recesses on Mondays and Wednesdays for approximately four to six weeks. Students will be invited to the music room after lunch to continue to learn and practice recorders.

If your 4th grader is interested in joining the club, please see the attached information.

Safe Arrival - Available Now!

Hillcrest is now fully up and running with the district's new attendance reporting system, Safe Arrival. Safe Arrival allows you to report an absence or appointment at any time from your phone. Our attendance line is still available for reporting absences but we encourage you to give Safe Arrival a try. We know you will find it to be an easy to use system that is available at times that work for YOU!

1) By far the easiest way to interact with the new system is by downloading the app on your phone and signing up for an account.

2) If you are not an app user and prefer to use your computer signup and login at https://go.schoolmessenger.com/

3) The phone option is still available by calling the attendance line at school. There will be a menu there to transfer your call into the new system. You may however, want to use the direct number 1-866-490-7371. By dialing direct from a phone that is registered with the district, the system should recognize the number you are calling from and be able to quickly identify your children and allow you to confirm their absence.
