A Back to School Message from Mrs. Carter
Back to School with our Specialists
From Mrs. Noone, our new Art Teacher
Hello! My name is Mrs. Noone and I am the new art teacher at Gayman Elementary School. I am so excited to join the team and share my love of art with my students!
This year in art class, 1st-6th grade students can look forward to creating artwork that utilizes the creative process to investigate and develop new ideas while exploring a variety of materials and learning about historical and contemporary artists. Throughout the year, students will learn to observe and talk about artwork, use the elements and principles of design in their artwork, and recognize cultural art from various geographical regions around the world. Be on the lookout for more information about our spring art show based on the theme “Together We Can Color Our World with Creativity,” featuring artwork by every Gayman Elementary student.
Finally, the elementary art team has developed our virtual curriculum based on this supply list. I suggest that each student has the items on the list but please know that during instruction, I will demonstrate how to achieve the project objectives with alternate materials in order to accommodate the variety of home supplies of each student. Please do not hesitate to reach out for any reason: jnoone@cbsd.org
Together we can have the best year ever!
From Mrs. Simon, our New Music Teacher
Hi Gayman Mustang families! I am Mrs. Simon, your new music teacher!
The primary grades will be moving to the steady beat, learning to identify the names of percussion instruments and learning rhythms like quarter notes, eighth notes and rests. Later this year, the fourth graders will learn the recorders. The upper grades will be playing virtual keyboards and xylophones, while learning to improvise and compose. All of the students will be singing and dancing during the music lessons all year!
I can’t wait to meet you, teach you new songs and play music games. Get ready to sing and dance and we will share our musical talents together throughout the year!
I can’t wait to hear all about your musical experiences.
Just keep singing!
Mrs. Simon

The process will take approximately 10 minutes to complete, and will ensure we have current contact information for you and your family, which is even more critical as we begin the school year virtually. All CBSD families (with the exception of those who are new registrants for 2020-2021) are required to complete this update on/before September 30, 2020.
