What's New?
We continue to learn a lot and form a strong community in our classroom. We have been seeing that some of what we do in kindergarten is not so different than in preschool, but at the same time, there are some big differences. (see photo above) We have already had two Kindness Parties because all of the acts of kindness and problems solving that have been happening here.
We began using our Problem Solving Chairs last week, where children have the opportunity to take charge of their own friendships and can address whatever conflicts may arise. (See photos below) We went over the basic rules and within a few days, many children were working things out with other children, simply by expressing their feelings and taking turns. When the children solve a problem together, they each color a kindness box on our kindness chart.
Working things out at snack time
Problem solving chairs can go outside!
The problem solving process gets a lot of children motivated to join in.
Mr. Aaron will be out on Friday, September 4th
I wanted to let you know that I will not be here on Friday, September 4th. There will be a "guest teacher" (substitute) named Ms. Reed. I already know her and she does great with kindergartners.
Thanks!
