October Shout Outs!!

This month I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Jankowski's Science 9 class and Mrs. Teed's English 11 classes. Mr. Jankowski's class came in to research elements using print and non-print resources. They then came back for a lesson on how to properly cite sources and create a Works Cited. Mrs. Teed's students worked on their Red Scare project. In addition to completing research, they learned how to hyperlink and cite items such as YouTube videos. Thank you for allowing me to work with your students! I had a great time!

If you have a project coming up and would like me to teach research methods or review how to make a works cited with your student, let me know! I can come to your classes or you can bring them to the library. Whatever works best for you, works for me!

Big shout outs to the following teachers who came and used the library this month:

Ms. Sacco, Mr. Mishriky, Mrs. Cordero, Mrs. Teed, Mr. DiMauro, Mr. Jankowski, Mr. Pallis, Ms. Carvalho, Mrs. R. Johnson, and Ms. Mikan.

Thank you for coming to visit us this month! We hope to see more of you next month!

Technology Spotlight

Have you ever assigned a project to students and included a variety of resources only to have them go to Google? Try out Padlet or Symbaloo! Both are free and allows you to post links to the resources you want students to use. Click on the links below to see examples of Padlets and Symbaloos I have created. If you would like more information on setting up your own accounts or if you would like me to create a Padlet or Symbaloo for your classes, please see me in the library!

Library Happenings

This month we hosted a Harry Potter themed Halloween Party! Students and staff enjoyed some sweet treats from Honeydukes and watched Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Thank you to those who stopped by!

A Novel Idea- the BHS bookclub, is reading Out of the Easy this month and will be hosting our book discussion on November 12th. We are also hoping to Skype with the author, Ruta Sepetys.
