Week 3 Complete!
We are coming to the end of Week 3! Everyone is doing great in submitting their assignments and we have many of our benchmarks complete as well. Next week, we will be finishing those benchmark tests and deciding your child's support tier. More information will come as we gain this data.
Keep working hard! We are proud of your strong start!
Student Spotlight: Cambree Burchfield
Cambree is a Kindergartener and this is her first year with PILA!
Some of Cambree's faves:
- Food: Mexican, Italian, Japanese, and Chinese
- Color: blue and pink
- Hobbies: drawing, painting, playing with dolls, riding on farm and construction equipment
- Subject: Math and Science
- Books: Wizard of Oz and Frozen
Why does Cambree enjoy virtual learning?
"Because of flexibility and working in her pajamas"
Reminders
- Students: Be sure to check Skype each day for announcements/updates.
- We have loved seeing all the students in person this week. Next week when they come in to the centers, we will finish benchmark testing. Any time they have left after they finish can be spent on school work.
- Please send in beginning of year paperwork next week if you haven't already. Also, the $20 insurance fee for our chromebooks needs to be paid by the end of August.
Some Tips
- Many students do better with an external mouse instead of the trackpad on the laptop. You can usually find a wireless one for a relatively low cost at Walmart, Target, etc.
- Headphone/earbuds are a must...for home and center time.
Important Info for Students with IEPs
Ms. Fonda will be at the South Polk Learning Center on Tuesdays from 9-1 and the CMS Learning Center on Thursdays from 9-1. Be sure that you sign up on these days if your student receives services according to their IEP.
Student Meals
Breakfast and Lunch are FREE to all Polk County Students this year! If you are at either center during breakfast or lunch, we can get it from the cafeteria free of charge.
