Take the Heart Challenge

Each year, La Ballona partners with the American Heart Association to promote healthiness and happiness. This year, in lieu of the jump-roping fundraiser, the AHA will provide La Ballona with a school-wide assembly on December 2 and then again on December 16. At these assemblies we will all be challenged to develop happy and healthy habits so that we can be prepared to physically and emotionally conquer the world. This website shares more information: https://www.heart.org/en/professional/educator/school-programs. In the meantime, encourage your child discover 15 ways to be me (below)

Outdoor Library

The La Ballona Outdoor Library will now be open every Wednesday and Thursday during the lunch hour, from 11:45-1:15. Books will be displayed on shelves on the Principal's Patio near the parking lot. Families must use street parking only. Students may check out up to 4 books and keep them for two weeks. If you have a book title, series, topic or author that you are looking for, please e-mail Mrs. Mehl, the librarian, at larajoymehl@yahoo.com.

Please wear your mask (with nose and mouth covered) and maintain social distancing, especially if someone else is visiting the library when you arrive. Please do not come if you or anyone with you has a fever or any other symptoms. Once books are returned, they will sit isolated for one week before returning to the shelf for circulation. Student does not need to be present. Parents may check out books for their child
