What's new, Mrs. Kuzniar?

News from the pre K-5 School Counselor at River Ridge

Please let me introduce myself...

My name is Laura Kuzniar and I am excited to join the River Ridge family as the new elementary School Counselor. As a mom of three daughters (who also go to River Ridge) and as a seasoned school counselor, I understand how important a positive school experience is in your child's life. I am looking forward to building a supportive, collaborative relationship not just with students, but also with parents, teachers and administrators at River Ridge to provide all of our kids with the best possible learning environment.

While I am optimistically looking forward to our new country life in Jo Daviess County, I bring with me a variety of different work and play experiences that I look forward to sharing. My family and I have lived part time in Hanover for the past seven years and in that time, I've been involved in the Hanover Farmers Market, at the Hanover Park District and at St. John's & St. Mary's churches. During that same time, we've been making that long commute to and from Chicago every week, where I was a school counselor for Chicago Public Schools. I've experienced a great deal with different learning needs, social emotional development, bullying, career exploration and counseling children. Before my husband, Mike, & I had children of our own, I worked with children in several different settings including runaway shelters, residential care and by doing crisis mental health evaluations in an emergency room in Chicago. I am looking forward to putting all of that experience together to meet the needs of your kids.

If you see me up at school, don't hesitate to stop and say hello! Let me know if there is something I can do to help your student. I'm eager to get to know you and to contribute to the River Ridge community!
