We miss you! Thank you all for your patience and understanding, as we try to navigate these unprecedented times. Your safety and the safety of our community is always at the forefront of our work. We are forging a new way of teaching and learning due to Covid-19 which naturally means we are all anxious but if we work together and support each other, we can come out of this pandemic as a stronger community.

We want to make sure that you are aware of the message our district sent out that all students will be participating in online learning during the first quarter of school. You can find this announcement and other fall 2020 updates at the site here: www.pps.net/fall2020. Here is the presentation to the school board on July 28th.

We know with all students participating in online learning at least throughout the entire first quarter that many of you will need to seek assistance in supporting your children as you return to work. Some families have shared that they would like to create Learning Pods and have begun forming these groups as we speak. We are thankful for the resourcefulness of this thinking and the willingness to work together to find solutions to challenges many of our families are facing, however, we feel the need to make sure that families use an equity lens when creating such groups to be as inclusive as possible. Here is an article that may help you to reflect and ask questions as you explore the possibility of Learning Pods. At this time, the formation of Learning Pods is not part of the district’s Comprehensive Distance Learning Plan and we cannot share personal contact information due to FERPA.

Our district is exploring childcare options. Oregon State agencies will be releasing information about childcare in the near future. We will share as we learn more.

August 4th - 7th We will work with families to determine technology needs, as per district message.

August 11th 1:00-3:00pm & August 12th 9:00-11:00am- Kindergarten families that indicated that they need a device pick up Chromebooks from Bridger.

August 14th - 1st grade - 5th Grade Teacher assignments emailed to families.

August 17th-28th Families will pick up technology from Bridger.

August 17th-September 11th Centralized Call Center available for families to support all technology needs.

September 2nd - 11th Comprehensive Distance Learning Orientation

  • Focused on student supports

  • Teacher-student connection and building relationships

  • Technology platform orientation

  • Kindergarten orientation and teacher assignment

  • Middle School schedules emailed to families

September 14th-November 5th First Quarter of School (comprehensive distance learning)

By October 10th District to decide what second quarter of school will look like (in school building, hybrid or online)
