Become a Docent in The Cyrus Tang Hall of China Exhibit

Do you have an interest in Chinese history? Do you enjoy sharing knowledge with others?

If yes, then consider becoming a volunteer docent in The Field Museum's newest permanent exhibit, The Cyrus Tang Hall of China, opening June 24th, 2015. As a docent volunteer you will be trained to interact and guide visitors through this exciting exhibit that explores the history of China, tracing a path from the country's ancient beginnings to its modern status as a leader in trade, technology and innovation.

Who can volunteer?

Docents volunteers should have an interest in Chinese history, a desire to teach others, and strong communication skills.


Docents can choose to volunteer one weekday shift (3 hrs.) a week or two weekend shifts per month for the duration of one year. Training sessions will be held at The Field Museum on Saturday, June 13th and Saturday, June 20th that will prepare you to volunteer in the exhibit.
