Teaching and Learning Corner (with Ms. Snyder)
Instructional Look For: School-Wide we are beginning our PSSA push! There should be evidence of strategies and practice opportunities integrated into lessons.
- K-4, ELA 5-8: Culture of Reading through SSR time and the equitable conferencing schedules. Scholars should be able to name their power goal and be practicing that skill during their SSR time.
- Math 5-8: Writing in math with a focus on mathematically precise language. Scholars should have opportunities to write about their problem-solving process, explaining their thinking demonstrating both conceptual and procedural understandings.
- Global Studies: Preparation for National History Days through rubric based workshop.
PSSA Hype Committee: As you know, each year with build excitement and confidence around the PSSA through a variety of activities. This work is done by a committee. If you are interested in joining, please let Ms. Snyder know!
Several folks have asked me about gradebooks. Trimester 2 Gradebooks: Click the link to the gradebook folder.

Culture and Climate Corner
Hallway Transitions, Dismissal and Bathrooms were the three school-wide areas of focus for PBIS. All teachers are encouraged to continue re-teaching the lessons from your binder to scholars.
Teachers, please be reminded of the updated dismissal process and ensure that you are on time.
Dismissal Procedures
· Dismissal process will begin with Ms. Tyler making dismissal announcements
· All homeroom teachers (K-6) will escort their classes to the cafeteria, gymnasium and then schoolyard at their assigned times (see below). 7/8th grade teachers will transition their parent pickups directly to the schoolyard). Scholars in grades 1-6 must line up directly behind their cones. Cones will be placed in a U shape so that parents picking up scholars can have a clear walk way to receive them (see image below). 7/8th grade scholars must transition directly out of the yard unless picking up younger siblings.
· When scholars enter the gymnasium, they are expected to find their bus monitors and have a seat on the bleachers (or in their designated section).
· Mr. Copeland is the gymnasium lead and Mr. Simpson, Mr. Williams, and Ms. Conyon will serve as additional support.
· All School Bus monitors should be in place in the gymnasium by 3:15p
· School Bus Monitors will check off all scholars present on buses and will report missing scholars to Mrs. Douglas.
· Mrs. Douglas will pull off buses where all scholars have been verified
· Afterschool: Scholars remaining for afterschool clubs or activities must be transitioned out of the building with their homeroom teachers. Coaches and club leads must meet scholars on the schoolyard and transition them back into the building beginning at 3:40p.
· At dismissal, after scholars have been dropped off to the cafeteria and gymnasium, all teachers must escort remaining scholars to the schoolyard.
