Miss Amy and Miss Courtney's Class
This week...
On Tuesday, we used our green scenes and cut them into triangle trees. The kids did an excellent job cutting their trees and then gluing them onto a classroom mural for our hallway. We also set up a tricky obstacle course to navigate. At circle time, we have begun learning the songs for our holiday show on the 16th of December. We are going to be singing them a lot in order to practice for you! Today we also talked a little about an elf that may be joining our classroom soon. We made some elf friends during craft time so that hopefully our elf will want to make an appearance by Friday! We will let you know if he comes or not. We all have to have extra good behavior this week!
Wednesday we had a very relaxing choice time. The kids had the choice to draw pictures with markers on clipboards, use easels to paint pictures of Christmas trees, or make their own choice. It was calming and nice. After, we practiced our songs for our holiday show! They are getting so good at them! We then started step one of a two step project that we are doing. The kids had to use a white crayon or a piece of chalk to draw a snow storm on a plain green paper. They added circles, lines and snow flakes. Tomorrow we will cut out three triangles and turn them into snow covered trees. After snack we went to Mrs. Strohl's classroom and we did yoga! It was a very busy, but relaxing day!
Thursday we started our day with all sensory centers. We played with Mr. Potato Heads in shaving cream, free painted on the easels and we decorated a mini Christmas tree. We listened to holiday music and really enjoyed our time together. We practiced our songs for the show again and then we all had a chance to go shop at the holiday store! It was so much fun and we felt like such big kids! After snack, we came in and did a game with patterns. Then we finished our snow covered tree craft on the floor!! They all came out so nicely and the kids were so proud of their work! We had just a little bit of time left, so we played a game on the SmartBoard where we dressed a girl to look like an elf. We picked a shirt, pants, shoes and a hat for her. We also got to choose the color for each article of clothing. We had some very colorful elves!
On Friday we came in and we decorated the tree, played in sand, made trees out of paper and we crawled through tunnels. We then painted using cups to outline a triangle tree. The kids identified the shape of the tree, the circle cup and the rectangle paper. After painting we listened to Pete the Cat Missing Cupcakes. We worked so hard to count to ten and talked about taking some away. It is a great book! We went to Art all together and had snack. After snack we played a game all together and then had a mystery reader!!!
