Examples of Living Our Mission
- Mr. Horrie and Mrs. Risinger have been working on prepping the area for our Lego Wall. This will be hung outside the office area bathrooms. It can be used during indoor recess, for sensory breaks, as a classroom incentive, and creativity area. We hope to have it hanging soon!
- Miss Olson brought a sample writing piece to use with her first graders that she wrote in first grade about the first day of school. It is a simple way to build connections and rapport with the students by brining a piece of herself into the lesson.
- Thank you to Genia for recognizing two students that weren't in her class with positive office referrals. It was wonderful to see the ROYAL behavior of our students and recognize them with a #GoodNewsCalloftheDay
- During writing instruction, students in 3L were working on narrative pieces. Mrs. Lanser conferenced with individual students during this time and challenged all students to include dialogue in their pieces to improve them. This simple encouragement and coaching is taking 3rd grade writing from good to great!
- Mrs. Stefanick read "Tacky" to a group of 1st graders. Her expression and choice of books made the kids laugh and giggle. Books truly have the power of building connections and evoking powerful emotions. Keep it up!
- Kindergarten collaborated to take their kids outside to observe different types of trees. Third grade used the gym and the bleachers to demonstrate the concept of arrays. As Dave Burgess would suggest in Teach Like a Pirate, the whole world is a stage. Consider other areas of the school that could be used to deliver lessons and promote student engagement!
