Ms. Carter's Weekly Update!
March 21st-25th
Dear Parents,
This week...
- In reading, we focused on the cause and effect text structure. The students also read nonfiction texts related to where our food comes from. We also got to explore where a star fruit, pomegranate, and chayote squash came from!
- In writing, the students described Spring using their five senses. We practiced using a thesaurus to use stronger vocabulary to describe Spring! Check out their essays on Seesaw!
- In grammar, the students reviewed using commas in a series and abbreviating streets, months, and days of the week.
- In math, we started learning how to tell time on an analog clock and volume measurements!
- We continued social emotional learning this week. The students learned how to show empathy and made skits to demonstrate. We also reviewed how to have a growth mindset!
- We are going to Longwood Gardens on Wednesday! - All students must bring a paper bag lunch and all items must be disposable, including water bottles. They can still bring in a water bottle to keep at school.
- Our poetry unit begins in April! - If you would like to donate food, drink, or decorations for our Poetry Picnic on May 4th, please click the grey button below to sign up!
- April Book Reports - April book reports were sent home today. The genre is graphic novel - their favorite!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Ms. Carter
