Bulletin 1|Summer Term 2015

Information correct as at Friday 24 April 2015 3pm

It has been a week of welcoming staff and pupils back to school - no doubt enhanced by the fantastic spring weather - making us all feel good to be alive. It was also lovely to hear about the success of the Rowing Camp in Hazewinkel, Belgium, the Ski Trip to Les Menuires, and the successful Bronze D of E group expedition, all taking place over the holidays. I also thanked the staff who gave up some of their holiday to run revision sessions or to accompany Sixth Formers who spent time volunteering at the Thames Valley Adventure Playground. A warm and sunny welcome to the Summer Term! The girls have started back as they always do -full of beans and ready to learn. In assembly, this morning we commented on just how much the girls have achieved in 3 days!

We welcome 6 new pupils this term to Claires Court Junior Girls: Madeline to Year 1; Claire and Lillian to Year 4; Caitlin to Year 3 and Freya and Georgia to Year 5. We also welcome back Miss Fryer, our trainee Teacher last term, to an LSA position in the Upper Juniors. Read more >>>

We hope that everyone had a wonderful Easter holiday and feels rested. Term has started really well with lots of happy, smiling faces and the new children seem to be enjoying the company of new friends and their classroom environments.

The new Transition cabin arrived and was successfully set up as a classroom during the holiday and Mrs Duxbury and Mrs Carney are really enjoying their new class who have settled incredibly well. They have all created lovely self-portraits which are displayed in their room. Read more >>>

2015 marks 100 years of women's membership at The Physiological Society. To celebrate this milestone, the society is running a competition for 11-16 year-olds to design a poster focusing on the achievements of women who have won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

You are invited to select one of the female Nobel Prize winners, research her discovery and then produce a poster summarising their findings for The Society. There are two categories or age groups, 11-13 and 14-16, and a winner will be selected from each one. Each winner will receive a visit from a prominent female physiologist to their school, along with a certificate and a £50 Amazon gift voucher.

Deadline Tuesday 28 April 2015 - please hand, or email, your entry to Mrs Mulhearn.

GRADE CARD ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: please return the slip to your Form Tutor if you have not already done so.
