Every Step Counts

As part of the Safe Routes to School initiative supported by the City of Fishers, HPE students participated in an Every Step Counts challenge. Students wore pedometers for a week and total steps were calculated. Classes with the most steps have earned a pizza picnic lunch on Monday, May 18. We send congratulations to the following classes:

Mrs. Lundberg, Mrs. Shafer, Miss Seitz, Mrs. Bohlman, and Mrs. Clevenger.

HPE sends our thanks to the City of Fishers for securing the grant and supporting HPE students with the Safe Routes to Schools program!

Student Arrival and Dismissal Procedures - Safety

Students are to be dropped off and picked up at the front drive by the school’s front doors. Please have your child exit from the passenger side of all vehicles. Students should stay in their seatbelts/safety seats until your vehicle has come to a complete stop and your child is ready to get out of the car. Please only dismiss and receive your child at the front of the school. Do not release students from the back of the line so they must walk passed other cars releasing children. It is imperative cars remain in a single line along the curb. Please do not attempt to pass cars releasing student as this creates an unsafe situation for our children. Please use extreme caution in our parking lot and drive in the morning and afternoon as both are high-traffic times. Thank you for your part in keeping our children safe.

HPE Party on the Playground

Please join us Friday, May 15 from 6-9 pm (rain or shine) for “Celebrating Old Friends and Welcoming the New at Party on the Playground.” The event is free this year so we can truly welcome new HPE students from DE and SCE as well as say goodbye to good friends moving to new schools. We will continue to have bounce houses, outdoor games (weather permitting), face painters, food trucks, and a DJ. In addition, the silent auction returns with awesome vacation packages, local business gift certificates, and the infamous grade-level baskets. Some notes about the event: 1) anyone bouncing must have a wristband, and in order to get a wristband, a waiver must be signed, 2) please bring lawn chairs, blankets, etc., as there is very little outside seating at the school, and 3) food is available for purchase. We had great weather for our inaugural Party on the Playground but have not had much ‘success’ in that arena then – let’s hope the good weather finds us again this year. Regardless, we look forward to seeing you and your families when we Celebrate Old Friends and Welcome the New.

Campers will spend each day typing on desktop computers, engaging in fun activities, and learning why the touch-type method is important. Campers will receive a drink and snack each day. All campers will leave camp on Friday with a keyboard binder and handouts that will help them continue on their journey of becoming a proficient typist. Explore Fishers Parks & Recreation Summer Camps While Meeting Camp Counselors

Summer camp can be overwhelming for parents! Between deciding which week to attend, making sure your little one likes that theme and getting signed up, there’s a whole lot to think about. Let us answer your questions while your children spend some time getting to know our summer camp counselors. On Friday, May 29, families are invited to the Nickel Plate District for the Summer Camp Open House. The open house is free to attend and will take place from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., prior to the showing of Big Hero 6 at the amphitheater!

Counselors can entertain children while you learn more about what our camps can offer your family all summer long. This also transitions perfectly into Fishers Parks & Recreation’s Spring Movies in the Park presented by XFINITY™, so pack a blanket and stop by concessions before the movie begins!
