Hopeful Fireflies

Introduction Letter for the Month

Dear Parents,

It has been such a delight these past two months to watch our children grow in independence. In September, our focus was on the daily routine. October was filled with special practical life activities: banana slicing, transferring using different sized pitchers, and spooning. In the pre-reading area, the children began matching pictures with sandpaper letters by their beginning sounds. We are gradually introducing more fine motor activities that will develop and prepare the children for writing. Some of these activities include painting with a fine brush, playing with play dough, and free art with crayons, which help develop and fine tune hand and finger muscles in preparation for writing; there are also social skills, language development, concentration and many other benefits to these activities. We look forward to a happy November as we learn about The First Thanksgiving and give thanks to the Lord for his generous blessings.
